Colossi Games has announced that it has raised $2.5 million in seed funding led by EQT Ventures<\/a>. Also participated in the round was the game developer’s existing investor, Play Ventures<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colossi Games, which is primarily focused on developing role-playing games (RPG), has said that the investment will be directed to develop and market its first game and create new games in the future. The studio didn’t release any details about the name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the game is a first-ever social survival game for mobile devices. The game is set in ancient Rome, incorporating mythical lore elements. Players will play as gladiators, explore partner up, and combat in battles with each other in colosseums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CEO and co-founder of Colossi Games, Manuel Prueter, said “Having worked at various different corporate games companies across Europe and Russia, we saw the gap in the market to create a more social RPG game. We strongly believe the future is social, and we strive to make a significant genre impact on innovation in this regard. This new funding will enable us to bring the game to life in a more advanced state and create more game-changing entertainment.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Colossi Games was founded in 2020 by veteran game developers Manuel Prueter, Andrey Panfilov, and Anton Petrov. The Cyprus-based games studio development team consists of people who worked in companies like Game Insight, Nexters, Nival, and mail.ru. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The studio currently has ten people and aims to create \u201cgenre-defining games by combining socially engaging elements with familiar mechanics to create enticing and unique gameplay experiences daily for a mid-core audience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In August 2020, Colossi Games raised $650,000 in pre-seed funding. Play Ventures, one of its existing investors, is a well-known VC in the games investment sphere. The VC is also regarded as one of the most active investors of last year and invests in games and gaming startups worldwide.
