Social games developer SciPlay announced that it had acquired Finland-based games developer Koukoi Games Oy. The sum of the deal is undisclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deal will help SciPlay grow in the casual genre and expand its market. Koukoi is excited to be a part of this expansion by helping develop a new game concept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The strengths of the Koukoi team mesh perfectly with SciPlay’s strengths, and we’re excited to welcome them to our company,” said SciPlay CEO Josh Wilson. “This is another step in the evolution of SciPlay as we continue to invest in future growth opportunities and build out our development pipeline. Together, we can build impactful evergreen games in the casual genre furthering our product and revenue diversification strategy.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Koukoi CEO Antti Kananen commented: “Our studio was founded on our passion to make casual mash-up games that blend successful attributes of multiple genres, appealing to broad audiences through engaging gameplay and deep meta storylines. We are thrilled to be joining SciPlay to take our games to the next level by taking advantage of their product and analytical rigour, user acquisition expertise and market scale.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

SciPlay CEO Josh Wilson said the team is excited to welcome the Koukoi Games to the SciPlay family and believes Koukoi’s teams’ strengths perfectly aligns with his company’s strengths. The company uses its proprietary technology platform, which includes module game features components and real-time multiplayer engines, to develop its casual games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Koukoi Games rose to prominence by being the developer of Om Nom Run, which is loosely based on the Cut The Rope game series ZeptoLab. With over 30 million downloads so far, Koukoi has proven to be one of the most successful indie developers in recent years. Kuokoi’s other titles include Ferdinand: Unstoppabull, Momolu and Friends, and Crashing Season Run.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SciPlay, on the other hand, develops and publishes digital games for mobile and the web, with an emphasis on social casino titles like Jackpot Party Casino. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company has been aggressively acquiring game studios in an effort to build a strong portfolio. Last year, it acquired Ukraine-based studio Come2Play after snapping up Bingo Showdown developer Spice Rack in 2017.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
