Lost Lake Games, a cross-platform game development studio, has announced that it has secured $5 million in new investment in a seeding funding round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bitkraft Ventures<\/a> led the round with contributions from Lightspeed Venture Partners, 1UP Ventures, and Moon Holdings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lost Lake Games said the investment would expand its development team, game development, and production. The studio intends to make games that are \u201cbold and imaginative.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lost Lake Games was launched by CEO James Phinney, Mark Pottorf, and Joe Pikop in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lost Lake Games CEO James Phinney said, \u201cLost Lake is not tied to a single platform or genre but rather to a core belief that empowering talented individuals and fostering a culture of collaboration leads to incredible games. We are thrilled to be working with Bitkraft Ventures and the whole team of investors who are helping bring our vision to life.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n Phinney was the lead designer of StarCraft and worked on titles such as Warcraft, Diablo, and State of Decay. Pikop is a former Rockstar Games<\/a> and ArenaNet member, while Mark Pottorf was a programmer and engineer at Quantum Conundrum and H1Z1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Praising Lost Lake’s founder, Scott Rupp, the founding general partner at Bitkraft, commented, \u201cIt\u2019s extremely rare to find a co-founder trio spanning design, engineering, and art who played key roles in iconic game franchises. This is an incredible opportunity to back a game studio with a bold, imaginative vision, a strong collaborative and empowering culture, and excellent iterative execution capabilities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Recently, Frost Giant Studios<\/a>, an independent game studio, has raised $25 million in a Series A financing round to develop a real-time strategy (RTS) title. Another new studio, Social First<\/a>, also secured $2.5 million in pre-seed funding to develop social multiplayer games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
