Established mobile game publisher Scopely<\/a> announced that it made a $20 million investment in California-based new game development studio Burlingame Studios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the agreement, the two companies will collaborate to develop a game. Burlingame Studios will also join the game publisher’s developer ecosystem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scopely says, “aims to build game teams with incredible talent density where the traditional boundaries between developer and publisher are eliminated.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burlingame Studios was co-founded by CEO Chris McGill. McGill is also the former senior VP at Glu Mobile<\/a>. Burlingame Studio’s team includes Jose Avila, Barlow Gilmore, Scott Cuthbertson, and Brandon Jones, all of whom are veteran game developers from firms such as Glu Mobile, Electronic Arts<\/a>, and CrowdStar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scopely is keen to co-develop more mid-core and casual games by forming partnerships with studios like Burlingame. In 2021, the publisher invested $50 million across three European studios<\/a> to develop mid-core games and grow its massively multiplayer library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scopely is known for franchises including Star Trek Fleet Command, Marvel Strike Force, The Walking Dead: Road to Survival, Scrabble GO, and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Headquartered in Culver City, the company has offices worldwide, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
