BigBrain Secures $4.5 Million To Launch A Trivia Game

BigBrain is all set to launch its own trivia game, BigBrain Trivia and has raised $4.5 million for the development. FirstRound Capital led the seed funding round and was joined by Ludlow Ventures, Box Group, and Golden Ventures, among others.

“What sets BigBrain apart is a focus on players’ areas of expertise, rather than just general knowledge,” Bonaddio said. “Questions are created and fact-checked by teams of experts and protected from cheating using proprietary technology developed specifically for the platform.”

“Trivia is the biggest skill game there is and we’re applying that business model to trivia. You buy into it, and if you win, you could win a lot of money. We spent the last year in lockdown building it, and now we’re launching. It’s super exciting,” Bonaddio commented.

BigBrain Trivia allows players to win real money prizes up to thousands of dollars depending on how many people play in a match. Players can decide which games they want to play based on their favorite topics. However, there is a $1 minimum entry fee to play. Initially, only iOS users will be able to play the game. The Android version is expected to be released in a few months.

BigBrain CEO Nik Bonaddio said that what sets BigBrain Trivia from other trivia games is that it focuses more on the players’ areas of expertise instead of general knowledge. He also reiterated that the questions on the platform are created and fact-checked by experts. Bonaddio also said he’s eagerly waiting for the day where millions of people will play the game.

Bonaddio founded the New York-based startup in 2019 as “a company of trivia lovers, for trivia lovers.” The company currently has about 15 staff.
