Alven invests $16.5 million in MadBox

The mobile game startup has successfully closed Series A funding round after 100 million downloads

The French game studio MadBox has raised $16.5 million for improving the work process. The company is developing mobile games from creating to publishing and distribution. MadBox has been founded in July 2018 as a startup of two Paris-based game studios. It currently counts around 35 employees and several games, including Dash Valley, Zoo Tycoon, Stickman Hook, Sausage Flip, and others, with a total number of 100 million downloads.

The funding was led by Alven – a European independent venture investment firm with a successful track record of backing more than 100 startups over 20 years (Crunchbase).

We are a generation of friends who have worked for well-known casual game studios. And we all think that big game productions will have to become simpler so that people can play them like casual games — and vice versa.”

MadBox co-founder and CEO Jean-Nicolas Vernin

The company is very meticulous in terms of hiring and production, but with new financial help, MadBox plans to open a second office in Barcelona. Also, the team sees the good opportunity in experimenting with new other game genres.
