Embracer Group acquires 13 studios for $441.5m

THQ Nordic parent company Embracer Group has announced 13 acquisitions, including Zen Studios and Flying Wild Hog.

With this acquisition, Embracer Group owns 58 game studios with more than 5,700 employees and contracted employees in more than 45 countries. The full list of acquisitions includes:

  • Coffee Stain North
  • Quantic Lab
  • IUGO Mobile
  • Purple Lamp Studios
  • Mad Head Games
  • Sandbox Strategies
  • 34BigThings
  • Nimble Giant Entertainment
  • Snapshot Games
  • Zen Studios
  • A Thinking Ape Entertainment

Some of those purchases were made by Embracer Group itself, while others were made by its various subsidiaries like Koch Media, Saber, Interactive, THQ Nordic, Deca Games, and Amplifier Game Invest. The most notable of the bunch are the deals for Zen Studios and Flying Wild Hog. Flying Wild Hog has been acquired for $135.2m, and is best known for its work on double-A console and PC titles such as the Shadow Warrior series. The studio is currently working on four projects for publishers Jagex, Devolver Digital, and Focus Home Interactive, and according to Embracer will “continue to grow and focus on delivering even more ambitious games” under its umbrella.
