Epic Games acquires SuperAwesome

With this acquisition, the company wants to improve child safety and create a wide range of ‘kid-safe’ services. 

More kids interact online than ever before and now is the time to double down on their safety. SuperAwesome is the company developers want to work with to make better online content for kids.

Epic Games announces the acquisition of the “kid tech” specialist SuperAwesome for an undisclosed price. Earlier this week, Epic announced its $15 million investment in Manticore, which indicates the company’s high activity in making deals this year.

We want kids to have safe digital experiences absolutely everywhere. If you think about the internet, it was fundamentally designed by adults for adults. Now we have an internet with kids under 16.

SuperAwesome is a kid tech platform, which has built a number of tools that allow developers to create safer digital experiences for younger audiences, and nowadays it has raised more than $35 million. SuperAwesome has 160 employees and cooperates with a number of notable brands including LEGO, NBC Universal, and Hasbro. The company provide “power safe digital engagement for more than 500 million kids each month across thousands of apps, games, and services”.
