Metacore raises $17.6m from Supercell

Finnish mobile game company has rebranded from Everywear Games and launched a new gaming title “Merge Mansion”.

Our ambition is really high. And that’s why we’re raising enough money so that we can really go to the races. We chose to go with Supercell because we are in this for the long-term. We share a lot of the same values as Supercell does.

Mika Tammenkoski, Metacore CEO

Metacore, previously known as Everywear Games, has raised $17.7 million in funding and has additionally secured an $11.8 million line of credit from mobile gaming giant Supercell, which is another Finnish game developer with well-known mobile games titles under its belt, including Clash of Clans.

Supercell has raised billions of dollars of revenue from a handful of games, and it is now owned by China’s Tencent. But Supercell still investing heavily in smaller game startups to help grow the region’s representation in the worldwide game industry. Merge Mansion, Metacore’s first game, officially launches today, after showing strong retention in its pre-launch phase. And Supercell noted that Merge Mansion’s retention rate has been impressive, and the company itself has “a resemblance to the early days of Supercell.”

Metacore will now focus on rolling out its first title for a wider audience. Furthermore, it will explore and develop new “metagames.” The company is also aiming at growing its existing team of 15 employees and says it will add at least 10 new hires across functions, including marketing, game design and back-end development.
