A living, breathing wuxia world where mastery is earned through discipline, not luck.

This is a 2D top-down action RPG set in a hand-crafted martial arts world inspired by
classic Chinese wuxia fiction and the rich tradition of cultivation stories. Players
step into the role of a martial artist at the beginning of their journey — choosing
their gender, body, and appearance before entering a world that does not wait for them.

At its core, this game is about growth. Every swing of a fist, every hour spent in
meditation, every decision in combat shapes your character. The stat system is deep and
deliberate, drawing from proven RPG design: Strength, Endurance, Speed, Efficiency,
Power, Resilience, Offence, Defence, Regeneration, and Recovery are all tracked and
interact with one another in meaningful ways. HP is determined by your endurance;
Ki (your internal energy pool) scales with your efficiency. Damage reduction is capped
by your resilience, punishing reckless builds while rewarding patient, calculated
character development. Transformation bonuses let characters break beyond their normal
limits — rare moments of power that feel genuinely earned.

Combat is real-time and skill-expressive. NPCs are not passive obstacles. The AI
drives enemies through distinct states — they patrol, they threaten, they attack
with techniques, they dodge. Civilians flee from danger. Guards respond to hostiles.
Bandits, Cultists, and Cult Leaders each present different challenges, with the world's
faction system generating organic conflict and tension even when the player is not
involved. Every NPC has a role in their world: villagers, merchants, guards, trainers,
quest givers — and each interacts with both the player and one another.

The world runs on a full day/night cycle and a seasonal calendar. Dynamic shader-based
lighting transforms the environment at night, with point lights casting real-time
illumination across villages and roads. Weather transitions through rain, fog, and wind
with seasonal weights, making the world feel alive and atmospheric regardless of what
the player is doing.

Character expression goes beyond stats. A layered sprite system renders each character
as a composite of body, hair, and clothing — with hundreds of possible combinations
spanning six body types, twenty-nine hair styles, and thirty-six thematic clothing
options drawn from wuxia and martial arts aesthetics. Clothing is tied directly to the
equipment system: what you wear is what you equip. There is no separate cosmetic
screen — your gear is your identity. Characters train visibly, their animations shifting
to reflect meditation, physical conditioning, combat, and flight as they advance.

Buildings are tile-constructed environments with real interiors. Rooftops fade
transparently when you step inside, walls provide genuine collision, and doors open and
close dynamically as you approach. The world is built to be explored at ground level,
not hovered over from above.

This project is currently in active solo development, built in GameMaker Studio 2.
The foundation is solid: the core stat engine, combat AI, faction world AI, animation
system, lighting, weather, tile building system, inventory, equipment, and character
generation are all implemented and functional. What is needed to bring this game to
completion is funding to support continued full-time development — including world
design, content creation, sound, music, UI polish, and eventual playtesting and release
preparation.

The audience for this game is underserved. Wuxia and cultivation RPGs are enormously
popular in literature and animation — yet the Western game market has almost no
quality indie entries in this space. This game is positioned to fill that gap: a
mechanically deep, atmospherically rich martial arts RPG that respects both the genre
and the player's intelligence.
