Art Studio Massive Black Acquired By Room 8 Studio

Room 8 Studio has announced that it has acquired art studio Massive Black for an undisclosed sum.

Room 8, which is based in Ukraine, revealed that the acquisition of Massive Black is its strategy to expand its business operations worldwide, especially in the US.

Room 8 Group provides a variety of services, including mobile SKU publishing and art production. The firm has previously worked with Bethesda, Ubisoft, Amazon, Activision, EA, and other companies.

The Massive Black agreement will enable it to provide “deeper solutions” to a broader range of customers.

“Massive Black joining the Room 8 Group portfolio is another step forward in our ongoing global expansion, including new offices, teams, and service offerings,” said Room 8 chairman Sviatoslav Pohrebnoi. “Massive Black is renowned for its top-class complex game and entertainment art solutions. Their mastery of art goes across all stages of development, from early pre-production through post-production and into live ops.”

Room 8 had opened offices in Romania, Serbia, Poland, and Spain in the past month.

Massive Black was founded in 2004 and offers creative services, including concept art, art direction, storyboarding, and cinematics. The company, based in Seattle, has done work with Electronic Arts, Blizzard Entertainment, Amazon, Unity, and more.

In other news, Gamefam, a game developer and publisher on the Roblox platform, announced that it secured $25 million in a Series A funding round.
